EAST BAY FOR DEMOCRACY is a chartered Democratic Club in Alameda County and is actively engaged in revitalizing the Democratic Party.  We support Democracy for America's long-term goal to rebuild the Democratic Party from the bottom up—it will take time, but we must start building a base now for the future.

East Bay for Democracy Censures Feinstein

Resolution Adopted by East Bay for Democracy's Officers on behalf of the Club, Veterans Day, November 11, 2007:


Whereas the Democratic Party stands firmly against racism in any of its manifestations and for gender equality, and Senator Dianne Feinstein voted to confirm Judge Leslie Southwick for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit despite his record of clear racism and gender discrimination; and


Whereas the Democratic Party abhors torture and stands firmly against its use by the United States at all times and places, yet Senator Feinstein voted to confirm Judge Mukasey as United States Attorney General – thereby elevating to the highest position in law enforcement a man who refuses to renounce the right of the President to resort to torture, or to recognize waterboarding as a form of torture; and


Whereas these examples are far from the only instances where Senator Feinstein, after seeking and securing the support and endorsement of the California Democratic Party, has worked to oppose the policies and principles of our party.


Therefore be it resolved that East Bay for Democracy Democratic Club expresses its disappointment at, and censure of Senator Feinstein for ignoring Democratic principles and falling so far below the standard of what we expect of our elected officials.

At our April DFA Meetup April, we had such a huge success with our own local activists sharing their personal views on presidential candidates we are having an ENCORE. They gave us fantastic reasons to consider the entire democratic field. After months pondering our choices, we get to check in again.

After Meetup, EB4D club members will consider endorsement votes for the Democratic Presidential Primary and the three initiatives coming up on the February 5th Primary Ballot.

This is the time to network with DFAers for your candidate!

Only EB4D Club Members will be able to nominate candidates for consideration and vote on an endorsement. (You must be a paid member 10 days prior to the vote.)
