This is truly OUR campaign, and we're going to win it the old fashioned way, precinct by precinct, voter by voter. If you live in the 14th, 16th or 20th Assembly District you already should have a sample ballot with their names right on it!THE FUN PART: This is the easiest, most rewarding precinct walking imaginable. We're walking for our own grassroots activists, and
voters are responding wonderfully. In the four weeks since walking began, voters are thanking us for being the ones who finally came to their doors and told them what the heck the local Democratic Party organization actually is. They're delighted to learn that our candidates want to get the local Party active and effective.P.S. Please remember to:

As Alameda County Democratic Central Committee members our Grassroots Progressives will:

Revitalize the Alameda County Democratic Party
Register new voters
Increase voter turnout by organizing
neighborhood leaders in all parts of Alameda County
Recruit, train, support and endorse progressive Democratic candidates.

Also, as county delegates to the California Democratic Party our Grassroots Progressive will insist that the Party and Democratic officeholders stand up for the Party's progressive Platform:

Enact affordable universal health care for all Californians
Effectively address the climate crisis
Defend a woman's right to chose
Make sure that every vote is counted
Support and implement Clean Money legislation at the local, state and federal levels
End the occupation in Iraq
Support a living wage and the right to organize

If you're looking to get the best hands-on training in the country for how to run an electoral campaign, join our friends from Burlington, Democracy for America, in Berkeley on March 1-2 (yes, the national organization is coming to our neighborhood, including DFA Chairman Jim Dean and Executive Director Arshad Hasan!).
Jerry McNerney Beat Richard Pombo in 2006 to win the 11th Congressional District seat with a tremendous grassroots-powered campaign. Did you know it was DFA training in Stockton that fired-up and organized those grassroots, and DFA’s then Training Director Arshad Hasan who ran the Get Out The Vote campaign with 1,000 volunteers on the ground?
Matt Lockshin (of the "Say No to Pombo" blog) sure does. He attended that training, then ran Abel Guillen's campaign for a seat on the Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees using a page-by-page plan he developed from his DFA Training Manual. East Bay for Democracy Censures Feinstein

Resolution Adopted by East Bay for Democracy's Officers on behalf of the Club, Veterans Day, November 11, 2007:

Whereas the Democratic Party stands firmly against racism in any of its manifestations and for gender equality, and Senator Dianne Feinstein voted to confirm Judge Leslie Southwick for a seat on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit despite his record of clear racism and gender discrimination; and

Whereas the Democratic Party abhors torture and stands firmly against its use by the United States at all times and places, yet Senator Feinstein voted to confirm Judge Mukasey as United States Attorney General – thereby elevating to the highest position in law enforcement a man who refuses to renounce the right of the President to resort to torture, or to recognize waterboarding as a form of torture; and

Whereas these examples are far from the only instances where Senator Feinstein, after seeking and securing the support and endorsement of the California Democratic Party, has worked to oppose the policies and principles of our party.

Therefore be it resolved that East Bay for Democracy Democratic Club expresses its disappointment at, and censure of Senator Feinstein for ignoring Democratic principles and falling so far below the standard of what we expect of our elected officials.
